Noxivision - Simulated scientific credibility

Part 2: Noxivision — The Power of AI-Assisted Content for Pharmaceutical Marketing.

Date published: 18/01/2024

In this second part of our series on AI-assistance for pharma marketing, we explored how AI can be used to generate longer content, such as clinical trial data and strategic content for a product.

Can AI craft compelling strategic content?

We wanted to know how well AI could handle longer content creation. Our fictional night-vision product has no actual information or research data so I gave ChatGPT a tougher task - to craft realistic and compelling strategic content.

To improve our outcomes we asked AI for several options - this let us edit and combine the best bits for an improved and less generated-sounding result. Another way to improve our ChatGPT prompting was to add more detail and define what we wanted in the result, in this case, we asked for several paragraphs including an introduction and a call to action at the end.

Persuasive stuff! AI was able to introduce Noxivision as a groundbreaking pharmaceutical solution in just a few seconds.

Next up, our fictional product now needed some clinical trial results to be trustworthy. For a product where data and research were yet to be established, AI stepped in to craft a scientific narrative around the product's efficacy and safety. Yes, this likely scientific nonsense would not pass through approval. But we can see how this could act as a content placeholder to be filled in with the real data later. This way you can get planning - without waiting on the details. With a real product, you could input actual information to get something more relevant that makes scientific sense.

Benefits for those working in Pharmaceutical Marketing

Medical Content Writers - there is great potential to be able to use AI with real research data. Imagine the benefit of training AI on thousands of papers and reference materials to ask questions about the research, analyse data and create summaries in seconds. I have seen examples of this already with Custom GPTs and bespoke internal AI systems.

Product Managers - AI can help you plan and draft initial content for your product, guide your content writing team, and identify gaps in your messaging. You could even get a head start and share early ideas with creative agencies (like us) so that they can start on designs.

Designers - personally as a Designer, I see this as a great way to populate designs with better value placeholder content. Lorem ipsum can be useful but it can be confusing and can make it tricky to see if the design is working without realistic information. We could also use this placeholder content as a guide for our clients on what format of content would work best in the design.

Lessons learned:

  • If this was our private research data we would be more concerned about data security and privacy of information inputted into ChatGPT and would need to set up a more secure system to keep private data out of it.
  • Adding more detail to your prompts significantly improves the quality of your generated content and will help set your content apart from very AI-sounding content to something relevant and professional.

At Iguazu, we have been exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to assist in marketing pharmaceutical products. We have created a series of articles that explore this topic - in the first part of our series, we looked at how AI can be used to create a brand identity for a new product. We used ChatGPT to generate names, taglines, and content for a new ophthalmics product that allows you to have night vision. After some experimentation, we settled on the name "Noxivision" and the tagline "Illuminate your path with Noxivision." We have more articles planned in the series, which will explore the intersection of AI and pharmaceutical marketing in more detail. Make sure to Follow us on LinkedIn for future articles.
